On a small plot located on the edge of the town centre, a house is proposed for a couple, with the intention of having children and where having space for family guests is essential, always optimising the built area.
This house is designed to be lived in 365 days of the year. Given the premise of having a large patio space with a swimming pool, and considering the orientation of the plot, northwest to the street and southeast to the interior, a compact building is proposed, with a ground floor defined by a large living, dining and kitchen space open to the sun and the patio, and a first floor that spins around another patio, this central one, which groups the communication routes between floors and organises the accesses to the different rooms that, around this one, are located facing both the street facade and the interior.
The patio serves as a chimney, allowing cross-ventilation of all the rooms on both floors and becoming a light well in the centre of the first floor. It is an element that accompanies the routes and unfolds geometrically to accommodate a small toilet below and access to the roof from the outside.
The main room, located above the living room, will have a private terrace opened to the views towards the outskirts of the town, and which will allow both solar protection of the lower space in the summer, and control of the views from the neighbouring property, which has access to the first floor from the outside in order to incorporate the roof as a space that can be easily used in the family’s daily life.
The house is organized from the requirement of privacy, leaving the most public spaces or those with fewer hours of use on the main facade. Instead, it takes advantage of the urban boundary situation to incorporate the immediate landscape inwards but with subtle strategies to protect the views of neighbours or from the outside
